La Nuit au musée : le retour de Kahmunrah est une toute nouvelle aventure animée inspirée de la célèbre série de films. Le job d'été de Nick Daley, qui n'est autre que celui de gardien de nuit au musée américain d'histoire naturelle, est un travail exigeant pour un lycéen. Heureusement, il suit les traces de son père et connaît bien l'ancienne tablette du musée, qui donne vie à tout lorsque le soleil se couche. Nick est heureux de revoir ses vieux amis, notamment Teddy, Sacagawea et Rexou. Mais lorsque le pharaon hystérique Kahmunrah s'échappe, avec l'intention d'ouvrir les enfers égyptiens et de libérer son armée des morts, c'est à Nick qu'il incombe de l'arrêter et de sauver le musée une bonne fois pour toutes.
